The goal was to create something rustic looking, more of a throwback to the old west. In addition adding fixtures like antique door nobs, reclaimed doors were a must. Justin Crandall, the VP of Tectonics II, oversaw the project’s construction. What’s cool about this particular project is it’s an example of small living, whether for your new home, cabin in the woods, personal man cave and or party bar area in the back yard. Each design can be custom built and designed the way you need it to be.

The Shanty is a welcome new addition to Devil’s Backbone Basecamp. The Shanty will be cool place to taste rare beers and spirits while also enjoying fine cigars.

In this picture you will see that we used Douglas Fir Beams, Reclaimed fir wall paneling and Antique Oak hardwood flooring.
Winter time in the mountains requires warmth, so we installed this Jøtul wood stove from ACME Fire and Stove (locations in Richmond, Charlottesville & Harrisonburg VA). ACME has been our goto source for wood burning stoves.
It might look small, but man it puts out some heat.
Jøtul is one of the world’s oldest producers of stoves, inserts and fireplaces. For over 160 years, building on a proud Norwegian heritage, Jøtul have combined fine craftsmanship with the know how to stay warm during the cold winter months.
This particular model is called the Jøtul F 602 (“The Little Giant”) and it is one of their best selling models. Another bonus is it is EPA approved and USA built in Maine, so what’s not to like.
